My Funky Fed3-Type A: Oh so cool!

What a fun little camera. A little quirky w/ the film winding and all but who needs batteries!

It’s a bit of a learning curve at first but I’m amazed at the quality of photos this little guy can produce. Not the Leica level of production but it’s certainly a lot of fun to burn a few rolls of film w/ this guy.

Here’s the old manual converted into html. Funky drawings.

Flickr Fed-3 tagged photos too.

Nikkor 1.4 50mm: Nice Lens

I switched to a Nikon D200. Although, I liked the 20d for some of it’s simplicity. The Nikon color rendition is more true to life (in my humble opinion). I always have Aperture or Lightroom to saturate my photos if I want something a little more graphic oriented… Anyway, setting my course for a new D3x. We all have to have goals, big or small right?

These are a couple of photos using my new Nikkor 50mm 1.4f. OK bokah, nice low light capabilities. That’s a crazy depth of field though. It makes 2.8f seem wide…

Never forget a Lens Again: Microsoft & Photography?

Having been a Mac guy forever, it’s just weird to think of Microsoft having professional photography tools but hey, they’re getting with it these days. They’ve release a plugin for Microsoft Outlook 2003 & 2007 just for scheduling photoshoots. Now, all I have to do is switch to Windows…hmm…nah!

Some of us just are not detail people. I’m great at seeing the big picture, but I often forget the little things. So I make a lot of lists to keep track of stuff. Pro Photo Shoot is a Microsoft Office Outlook add-in that is designed to help photographers keep track of the little stuff. When you’re first planning a photo shoot—perhaps while you’re on the phone with your customer—you can bring up a dialog with a list of the equipment you own and then check off what you want to bring with you. The list is stored in the body of the appointment so when you print the appointment record the list is right there with all the other details. That way you can have the list in hand as you’re running out the door to make sure you’ve got everything you need. And you can have the list at the shoot to make sure you bring everything back with you (I told you I was bad on details).

Seamless Windows Applications on OS X

WINE is not an Emulator.  It bugs me to reboot into windows when everything else I do and need is in OS X Leopard.VMWare and Parallels work great and are pretty much stable all the time but if all I need is to check some CSS in IE6 it’s a real bother.

If you’re like me you’ll love Crossover for the Mac. It’s amazing. You just install your windows apps right onto your mac. That’s it. No Windows. No Virtual anything. Pretty cool.

CrossOver Mac allows you to install many popular Windows applications and games on your Intel OS X Mac. CrossOver includes an easy to use, single click interface, which makes installing Windows software simple and fast. Once installed, your application integrates seamlessly in OS X. Just click and run your application directly from the OS X Finder. Clicking a Windows file or document — including email attachments — will launch the appropriate Windows program, allowing you to work on the files. Best of all, you do it all easily and affordably, without needing a Microsoft operating system license.
